With an investment of 32 million dollars, Nuvant is boosting the national production of the coated textile industry in Colombia

Nuvant, committed to the development of the country's industry and economy, is executing its investment plan for 32 million dollars to boost national production, promote exports, create new jobs, promote training of the workforce, and update their technological equipment.

The textile sector is one of the main investment items of the manufacturing industry. According to the EAE Business School, in Colombia approximately 6,500 companies in the textile and fashion industry generate one million direct and indirect jobs. In fact, the impact that the country promotes worldwide is immense, Bogotá is the second city in Latin America with the highest investment in fashion, with 260 million dollars, likewise, Medellín, has been for several years, considered the capital of Latin American fashion.

Taking this scenario into account, Nuvant bets on Colombia to turn the country into a regional and international benchmark for coated textiles; in four key categories: the demanding transportation industry in markets such as the United States and Europe, home and contract for indoor/outdoor, and Industry with uses ranging from footwear and leather goods, to canvas for tents, awnings and parasols, as well as, safety and winter clothing.

The investment made is focused on several points, such as: the purchase of the latest generation European coating machines, engravers and lacquers to increase its production capacity, serve new markets and expand its offer, Nuvant has also focused on the business transformation that consists of providing knowledge and training to its employees on the new machinery and operation.

For Carlos Mario Zapata, General Manager of Nuvant, "The investment we have made has allowed an increase in our productive capacity through state-of-the-art technological renewal, which has enabled an additional production capacity of 5.4 million meters per year . Likewise, we are expanding our infrastructure and we are strengthening our human capital, generating new jobs and strengthening the areas of organizational development, communications and marketing.

For its part, worldwide the textile industry faces a key challenge to promote carbon neutrality. Nuvant, is commitment to contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint, through technological renewal, achieving a reduction in waste, optimizing the use of raw materials and energy resources, improving its efficiency by 25%, and reducing the gas consumption in processes by 18%. In addition, Nuvant have invested in emission control equipment to electrostatically trap polluting gases and plan to include solar energy as one of its main energy sources in the coming years.

In this sense, we have designed a robust business plan that is giving significant results from the economic, sustainable, human and technological front. We have an important challenge and that is to increase our productive capacity by 1.5 million meters per year, and continue serving more and more international markets,'' says Carlos Mario Zapata.
